Self - Evaluation



I have great interest in learning language. It is the process of learning and studying language that appeals to me. So far, I have been studying Chinese and English for a long time. And Japanese is the one that I started to learn two years ago. I am also in favor of listening to music, which can be combined with language learning. On the one hand, I can develop both the two hobbies. On the other hand, I can also use it as a tool to improve my listening and speaking of English and Japanese. As for Chinese, I can learn the wording and phrasing as well. At the present time, I make good performance in English listening and reading at school. With the enthusiasm about English, I want to study more and have deep learning in language.

Speaking of my specialty, I can’t help talking about Chinese composition and comic drawing, especially the characters of comics. Sometimes I attend the pertinent contests and send my works to relatives and friends with the coming of holiday or their birthday. In addition, I regard myself as a responsible person. I always do my best when being appointed. Once a teacher asked me to convey message, not only did I tell the person, but I also made sure that he did finished what the teacher told. I believe that trust is the root of all relationship; people who work besides me all know my reliability. Furthermore, I form a habit of keeping diary. As I consider that it can make me question my daily behavior. And it’s true that moderate introspection can give me direction in life.

When it comes to my philosophy, I tend to be independent. I’ll adhere to my goal as no one can replace me to carry out my dreams, even family can only back me up. Therefore, no matter effort or time I should pay, I will do step by step to reach my ideal.

Owing to my early interest in English, I studied at Department of Applied Foreign Language in National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School. These two years, not only could I concentrate on my favorite language, with teachers’ instruction, but I also regained my interest in math though I once disliked it. English was originally my favorite subject; with the help of teachers and the passion I have had for learning language, I’m glad that my effort paid off. I passed General English Proficiency Test for the intermediate level in my second year in high school.

As for the club I attended, I joined the English ABC club as soon as I entered the senior high school in order to improve my English level. We had to learn vocabularies of a chapter every week. Sometimes we also took exams and used the software of English contest. At first, I really confused whether my English ability would make progress or not. Finally, I even attended the word competition in school for class, which I got achievement from it.

I have had the experience of serving as vice bulletin board designer since my junior high. Since I was interested in comic painting, teachers tended to encourage me to serve for class. As a bulletin board designer, I had to remove my eyesight from comic characters to the huge board, and learn the duty division and collaboration. In the past, the comic I created was my own works, while designing post was cooperation. During the process, I was taught the concept of giving the right to others. No matter how great I could draw, I couldn’t do every thing on my own; collaboration could reduce some odds and ends, make me focus on the whole aspect, and represent my confidence to classmates as well. In addition, by recording the process of meeting in class, I gradually learned the skills of writing official papers. I really appreciated that my teachers in junior placed me in a proper position, made me do my utmost in interest and hobbies and finally made progress mentally and physically. Through the previous experience, I could serve as bulletin board designer at ease. Besides, such as speaking on the platform, calculating the budget of materials, and the various duty assignment of different topics, are the sections I still have to improve.

My name is Chen yu-ju, born in a sound, sweet family. My family lives in harmony and tends to express concern and love to one another. My parents have taught me in a strict way since my childhood. They award me for the good and punish me for the bad respectively. On the one hand, when I do good deeds, they encourage and praise me in public. Some parents never do this for their children so I think it is worth mentioning. On the other hand, if I behave badly, they always clarify the matter first, explain the wrong, and punish me reasonably. My father plans in advance and has things done step by step; therefore, he works efficiently and is capable of solving problems of family. My mother, who is considerate, offers me warmness and teaches me with patience.

“A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in silver settings” is what my parents remind me. They tell me that speaking plays an important part in connection of people. How to speak properly is the lesson I have to learn throughout my life.

Moreover, I have a grandmother educated under Japanese, who pays much attention to herself. She wants me to be a gentle lady, too; actually, she is a model in my heart. I am Tao. My English name is Angela. I am 17 years old. I am from Taipei First Girls' High School. I come from a well-to-do family. My mother passed away when I was in my first junior high year. My father is a computer engineer and remarried three years ago. My stepmother is an elementary school teacher. So I have a sweet stepbrother, who is now in the sixth grade. My grandparents live with us as well. My family get along pretty well.
       
Throughout my school years, my academic results have always been pretty good, except in the second half of the first year and the first half of the second year. It is because my mother's death was such a trauma to me. It took me more than a year to get better. My father was afraid that I would turn bad after that. So he encouraged me to join many extra-curricular activities. He sent me to piano class, ballet class and art class.

   
His purpose was that through music and art, I would find a way to release my pain so that my heart would be comforted. I am very grateful to my father's caring and thoughtful consideration. Ever since then, music is my spiritual guide and gradually becomes my most intimate companion. I then practice the piano very hard and make up my mind to become a pianist.

   
In my high school years, I have taken any chance to participate in school activities. I join the choir and jazz club, both clubs offering plenty of contests and performances for many occasions. We have won many contests and had been invited by the Mayor to perform in City Hall. I am also the member of art club, for I enjoy sketching and painting very much.

   
Every time when I have chance, I would go to the music theater to listen to symphony and orchestra performances. There is not once I would not be moved by the music. I really admire those musicians' talent, passion and dedication to music. I wish one day I would be able to become one of them, performing on the stage and touring around the world. That's my passion and expectation to myself. I hope you would give me a chance to fulfill it.

My name is Wei Wei Chang, who is 18 years old and was born in I-Lan.  There are seven members in my family.  My grandparents who are so kind teach me a lot of things about our traditional customs in Taiwan .  I think that is very interesting and remarkable for every citizen of Taiwan .  When I was a child my parents aimed at the development of my personality.  My father is a simple and down-to-earth person.  My mother has a mild character, who is also a good housewife.  My older sister is a beautician, and my younger brother is a junior middle school student.  I was grown up in such a fabulous atmosphere; therefore, I have a positive point of view about everything.

      I am studying in St. Mary’s School of Nursing which is a vocational high school in I-Lan.  I have been studying for nursing since three years ago.  In my first grade, I attended to English oral competition and got the third place.  Besides, I still took this competition the next year and got the same result, the third.  One thing I want to mention is I joined the special club, which is an organization to help and concern the elder in a community.  That was also a wonderful and unforgetful experience in my high school life.

      I have a lot of different hobbies, for example, I joined English Conversation Club, Guitar Club, and POP Club.  They are all my favorite activities which helped me gain so many skills from this kind of learning.  For instance, how to create a beautiful poster, how Americans use their daily life slang, and how to play an instrument of guitar to my unhappy crying friends, etc.

      In my free time, I like reading, playing basketball, go shopping with friends, or cooking with my mother.  When we have a holiday, I like to go traveling with my lovely family best.  Listening to music is also the way I relax myself.  By the way, when I feel blue, I prefer talking to my mother or friends to get their opinion.

      My strength is I am kind of considerate person.  The reason I describe myself this way is because of my future career, a nurse.  In my mind, a nurse should help the sick without complaint.  However, this is a long way to go, and I will try my best to achieve this goal.  In the future, I hope I can contribute all I have learned to the people who need.  Of course, I still desire to learn more from the other task which I might face hereafter.  To make my dream come true, I will try my best to work harder; thus, I believe that I will possess these professional abilities to perform my dream step by step smoothly.
